Free Tours
Our volunteer docents enjoy sharing their love of Old Mission. Most days at 1:15 pm, a guided tour begins at the Mission Plaza church doors in front of the gift shop. (Sundays at 2:30 pm) Additional tours are offered at 11 am (Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays only) from April 1 through Labor Day. Metered street parking is available and there is plentiful public parking at 812 Palm Street.
Guided docent tours are free of charge, however donations are gratefully accepted and are used to fund a number of things including: docent training, guest speaker stipends, educational field trips, improvements to support the visitor experience with enhanced exhibit signage and lighting as well as a Mission Docents college scholarship fund for a local student.
You will learn how the Mission was built in stages over many years, who was buried in the floors of the church, and the story behind the centuries-old art that still hangs from the adobe walls. Bring your best questions.
